A fantastic project that we’re currently involved with in Scotland is the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI), a Category A Listed Building which dates back to 1879.
EFI is one of the top 10 listed buildings in the City, and works have included a number of challenging aspects. For example, there are 26 spires on EFI and for each of these the slates need to be removed, examined / graded and stored at roof level before being redressed and refitted. There is also varied and challenging slate detailing and leadwork on every section of the project, requiring skill and craftsmanship of the highest order. Behind the scenes, structural repairs have also been required before any slate roofing or leadwork can be carried out.
MAC Roofing are currently around 60% through this 2-year restoration project and we’re proud to be playing our part in revitalising such an iconic building which will also help to transform the local area.
