Hanover Gardens offers accommodation for the over 65s and consists of 3 blocks of flats, each 2 storeys high. These buildings had flat roofs which had been leaking for some time, the most recent of which was a single ply roof that had failed after just 4 years due to poor workmanship. Hanover Housing therefore decided to carry out a full refurbishment scheme and asked for a new flat to pitch roof conversion to be installed over all three blocks.
MAC Roofing proposed Decra Orbron Lightweight Metal Tiles as an alternative to the specified system, and the client welcomed the change due to Decra’s aesthetically pleasing finish and 40 year insurance backed guarantee.
Working in partnership with Dibsa Structures, MAC Roofing gave the three buildings a new lease of life as well as an attractive appearance when viewed from the ground. Monaperm 700 underslating was also installed, along with 270mm Rockwool insulation, making the flats a lot warmer and reducing the heating bills considerably. New PVC fascias and soffits were then added to provide even more character to the building.
The client was delighted with the end result, and was impressed with MAC Roofing’s considerate approach to the residents, which meant that disruption was kept to a minimum. This project was awarded first place in the Decra Roofing Category at the prestigious IMA Roofing Awards. The judges commented; ” This project is a fine example of how good relationships between client, contractor & manufacturer can provide the best solution to problems on sensitive and difficult sites.”
